Rushes Postproduction
Workflow software for film and television post-production.

At Rushes Postproduction, a Soho film, television and visual effects facility, I moved beyond my core 3D rendering responsibilities to solve a wider production workflow problem. I learned the team’s processes and existing software, then designed and implemented a bespoke shot-tracking system from scratch.

The project required close collaboration with production staff and artists. The useful requirements were found in their day-to-day work rather than in a fixed technical specification, so the solution had to fit the language and rhythm of an established creative pipeline.

This is representative of the work I enjoy most: understanding a specialist domain, making a complicated process easier to manage, and delivering software that supports people without getting in their way.

It also shows a recurring strength in my work: being able to enter an unfamiliar business domain, learn enough of the operational reality to make sensible technical decisions, and produce a tool that is useful to the people doing the work every day.
